Mad Cats

Move over Birds, here come the Cats! I'm now having fun with the next series of drawing/paintings. I'm calling it 'Mad Cats" - you can probably see why! There is something so wonderfully crazy wild about cats - even when they're curled up on your lap, all fuzzy and purring, they have a look in their eye...
These are ink, watercolor pencil, charcoal pencil, pencil - mixed media on paper

Bird Games

I have always loved drawing and painting on good paper. Most of my work has ever celebrated the conversation among surface, medium, subject, and me as the artist. I treasure the happenstance, the chance stroke that results from something just beyond my control, even as I know how to control the direction and the end point.
On this page I'm showing original works, beginning with a new series that was sparked by my Ink Bird series of cards. I call this series 'Bird Games' with 'players' in numbered multiples and in single drawings. All are on fine art Rives paper, created with a Rotring watersoluble ink pen and Faber Castell watercolor pencils.
